On Sunday, March 22, 2015 God called from above and brought home his new angel, Melline Ellis Thomas. Melline Ellis Thomas, age 91, was born October 14, 1923 to the late Clarence and Albertine Ellis. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Thomas, Sr. for 57 years. Melline worked for several years with the Orleans Parish School Board and retired to stay home to care for her grandchildren. Melline was a long-time member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, eventually moving to Greater Liberty Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board. Melline Thomas leaves to cherish her memories her son, Herbert (Nellie) Thomas, Jr.; daughter, Terrylceda Thomas (Herbert) Dunbar, son-in-law, Herbert Dennison, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Gaynell (Tony) Thomas Williams, Herbert (Tiona) Dennison, III, Wilbert (Markisha) Deville, Herbert (Ayanna) Thomas, III, Terrylceda Dunbar Perkins, and Korrin H. Dunbar; 13 great-grandchildren, Jamara Mitchell, Irie, Celeste, Anyla, Aisha, and Ayanna Dennison; Derek and Dailen DeVille; Zhane Harris, Lili Rodriquez, Jordan and Myles Williams, and Sabine Thomas; two nieces, Monica Short and Elaine Jones, and two nephews James Lenoir and Mack Short, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Thomas, Sr.; daughter, Jacqueline Thomas Dennison, and one grandson Damon Thomas Dennison and one grandson-in-law Brandon Joel Perkins.
Members of Greater Liberty Baptist Church and Ebenezer Baptist Church, McDonalds Owners Association, NBMOA; and Employees of Orleans Parish Public Schools and Jefferson Parish Public Schools are invited to attend services at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Greater Liberty Baptist Church, 1230 Desire Street, New Orleans.
